Do you know what the Attic Monster likes to eat?

Children?

No.

Little girls?

No.

Old people?

No.

He likes to eat…OLD CHAIRS!

This attic room is the most dangerous place in this building because it is filled with…OLD CHAIRS.

Do you know how many children have disappeared in this room?

Many.

They come up here when they play Hide and Seek. They hide in this room thinking it is a good hiding place.

The Attic Monster comes. It is dark. He cannot see what is here, but he smells OLD CHAIRS. He thinks, ‘This is an OLD CHAIR. I will eat it.’

Then…CHOMP!

The Attic Monster chews a few times, and then he thinks, ‘This is not OLD CHAIR! It is CHILD!’

He spits it out. The child is now only goo.

When he chomps, he never gets the whole child. He always leaves the shoes. When the child’s parent wonders where he is, they come looking. They find only goo and shoes.

You may wonder how I know so much about the Attic Monster. I work for him. I tell children that it’s a great idea to hide in this space between the walls.
